独創性を重んじる
京セラは、創業の時から独創性を重んじ、人の模倣ではなく、独自の技術で勝負してきました。他社ができないといったものを喜んで受注し、全員が必死の努力でこれを創り上げ、結果としてえ独自の技術を次々に確立・蓄積してきたのです。
大河内記念生産特賞や科学技術庁長官賞を受賞し、京セラが大きく飛躍するきっかけとなったマルチレイヤーパッケージの開発はまさにこのことを実証しています。
何としてもやり遂げなければという強い使命感をもち、毎日毎日創意工夫を重ねねていく。その一歩一歩の積み重ねが、やがてすばらしい創造へとつながっていくのです。
From its start, Kyocera valued creativity. Rather than copying others, we competed with our own technologies. We gladly took orders that others had refused, and made the products through determined efforts. In this manner, we developed and accumulated our own technologies, one after another.
For example, R&D for multi-layer packages, which triggered Kyocera’s major growth, received the Okochi Memorial Grand Prize for Production as well as the Japanese “Minister of Science and Technology Award”.
Our strong sense of mission to achieve our goal made us strives to innovate daily and expand our technological expertise. The accumulation of such daily efforts led to impressive results.

とも言い換えられます。
つまり、自分の利益だけを
考えるのではなく、
自己犠牲を払ってでも
相手に尽くそうという、
美しい心のことです。
ビジネスの世界においても、
この心が一番大切です。
「情けは人のためならず」
というように、思いやりは
巡り巡って自分に返って
きます。
相手を大切にし、
思いやる「利他」の行為は、
自分たちが損をする
ように見えても、
長いスパンで見れば、
必ずすばらしい成果を
もたらしてくれるのです。
- Be Kind and Sincere
Business is based on
partnerships and must
bring happiness to all parties.
Being kind and considerate
can also be described as
“altruistic.” In other words,
it means having a beautiful
mind that restrains a person
from satisfying his/her own
desires and instead drives
him/her to help others,
even if it means making sacrifices.
I believe this is the most important
mindset to have in the
business world, too.
There was a time when,
much like Kyocera, many
Japanese companies
acquired American companies;
however, we do not hear
of many success stories
like Kyocera’s acquisition
of AVX.
Following these other mergers
and acquisitions, those
Japanese companies ended
up withdrawing from
the market or selling off
the acquisition at a large loss.
I think that a difference in
mindset is what separates
our successful acquisition
of AVX from those that failed.
The difference lies in whether
you are sincerely thinking of
the other party or merely
focused on your own interests.
In classic Chinese literature,
it has been said that “Pride
brings loss, and humility
receives increase.”
Even though it may appear
as though we are not benefitting
from our altruistic behavior
of caring for the other party,
we are assured wonderful
results over the long term.

という言葉があります。
これは善行を積んできた
家には、よい報いがある
ということです。
世の中には因果応報の法則
があり、善きことを思い、
善きことを実行すれば、
運命をよき方向へ
変えることができます。
当然、仕事もよい方向へ
進めていくことができるのです。
善きこととは、人に優しくあれ、
正直であれ、誠実であれ、
謙虚であれ、などという
人として最も基本的な価値観です。
昔から「情けは人のためならず」
と言われていますように、
善きことを積み重ねていくことで、
私たちの人生も
よりよいものとなっていくのです。

Effect exists in
this world. If you accumulate
good deeds,
you will be rewarded in life.
Altruistic practices
fall into the category
of good deeds.
What’s important in life
is thinking good
thoughts and doing good deeds.
Being kind to others
and practicing honesty,
sincerity and humility
may sound simplistic,
but these are the basic,
important traits of
human existence.
You can turn your life onto
a better path through
the accumulation
of good deeds.
